Mandated Reporter of Child Abuse

Individuals designated as mandatory reporters typically have frequent contact with children. Such individuals may include:
  • Social workers
  • Teachers and other school personnel
  • Physicians and other health-care workers
  • Mental health professionals
  • Childcare providers
  • Medical examiners or coroners
  • Law enforcement officers
Under PA Code, any person who, in the course of their employment, occupation or practice of their profession, comes into contact with children shall report or cause a report to be made when they have reason to believe, on the basis of their training and experience, that a child coming before them in their professional or official capacity is an abused child.
If you have any concerns about a child, share them with the classroom teacher, supervisor and/or building principal!
