Many teachers already have worksheets and activities that are used in the "brick and mortar" classrooms. In the regular classroom, it's easy to hand the students an activity and have them use their pencils to complete. That ease becomes a challenge with teaching online.
There are several options that we will cover in this topic section. Here are some key points to keep in mind:
Use the Online Text assignment as your primary method of having student submit answers to you. The worksheet can be linked as a PDF (do not use Microsoft Word) in the instructions or you can "snip" the worksheet and insert it directly into the instruction area of the assignment. Student will then simply type the question number and then the answer. If you are doing upper level math, you will likely not be able to have students submit answers in this manner because of the complexity of the answers.
Other options include using PDFescape which can be accessed by clicking here. PDFescape is the absolute best PDF fill option for students. You do not have to have an account to use the service. Essentially with PDFescape, text can be placed anywhere within the document. Therefore, students could upload the worksheet/activity to this site, fill out the required answers, download to their PC. The students would then upload the completed PDF to you. Moodle 2.7 now has a annotate PDF where you can annotate directly on the PDF that the student has submitted for checking purposes.
